Dig for Victory Model Garden Workshops

Workshops for children held in The Community Centre in Neath were extremely successful with more than 50 children attending.  The children were joined by volunteer from Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP), to create models of war time gardens from various new and recycled materials complete with vegetables, tin baths, pigs and chickens and even a toilet at the bottom of the garden!

Maureen Winter, RSVP Project Coordinator said

“We were delighted to be asked by Communities First Neath Town Centre to take part in the children’s workshops.  Our volunteers Sandra Anstiss, Sue Jones and Chris Stephens along with Chris’s granddaughters April and Alice Sampson had a great time working with the children throughout the day.  It was a wonderful opportunity for different generations to have fun together.”

The model gardens created in the workshops can be viewed in Neath Market.  Thanks to Emmie’s Baby Boutique, Style Mobile Accessories and The Leather Stall for donating the space on their stall to display the model gardens.
