What is Communities First ?
What is Communities First?

Communities First is a programme aimed at developing selected communities in Wales so that these areas become more prosperous and provide more opportunities for those living in and around these communities.

How does it work?

The Communities First programme has been designed so that the communities themselves decide what they need and would like to see in their areas. Communities First is a long-term programme (10 years) to encourage projects and changes that will be sustainable for the future.

What is the Partnership?

Partnerships are set up in each Communities First area and are made up from community, statutory, voluntary and business representatives. The Partnership will manage the plans for the community and anyone from the community can have an input.

Why should you care?

Communities First is a fantastic opportunity to see real and long-lasting improvements in your areas, but this cannot happen without people getting involved!

Communities First Trust Fund

As you may be aware, Communities First has been up and running for a number of?years now and one of the big benefits it has brought to local groups is the Communities First Trust Fund.

The Trust Fund is aimed at supporting activities which provide economic, social, environmental and cultural benefits through community-led organizations.
